What is Straight Wire Orthodontics?

Straight wire orthodontics utilizes straight wire appliances to strategically move teeth into their desired location using straight wire brackets and a series of pre-shaped archwires. Once flexed to fit into the bracket slots, the archwire will gradually return to its original shape and reposition bracketed teeth. Archwires are progressively changed until the desired occlusion is achieved. Along with providing consistent results, straight wire orthodontics requires little to no archwire bending and a shorter overall chair and treatment time for your patients.

“I have taken multiple orthodontic courses but did not have the confidence to jump into a case until I took Dr. Williams’ course. He gave me the confidence to start orthodontics in my general practice and he is always there to answer any questions you may have, even outside of class.”

"It has been a privilege to learn from Dr. Williams. His kind manner, sense of humor, and encyclopedic knowledge of all facets of general practice orthodontics (past, present, and future!) are a huge benefit. I know that I can rely on him as a colleague and a resource as I continue in orthodontics and expand my practice."

- SARAH OLIM,

DDS • HOUSTON, TX
Doctor at work

"Dr. Williams has vast knowledge and experience in orthodontics from a GP perspective. Dr. Williams is very approachable, accommodating, and makes learning and participation easy. I would strongly encourage any GP considering incorporating ortho into their practice to start with Dr. Williams’ Level 1 (Basic) and Level 2 (Intermediate) seminars."

Susan Coffey, RDA

Assistant Instructor

Susan is a Registered Dental Assistant that specializes in Orthodontics. She began her orthodontic career in a real orthodontic office, then moving into a GP office, Susan began to understand the difference between the two philosophies. Still active in assisting doctors in multiple offices, she continues to learn and find creative new ways to enhance orthodontics for the patients.

Not only a chair-side assistant in the Dallas area, Susan is blessed to be able to share her love and knowledge of orthodontics in continue education courses with Dr. Brad Williams. She understands the importance of having empowered assistants and as a detail-oriented person, Susan will motivate her students to return to their offices and be able to support their doctors in making orthodontics successful.

Susan would have never started her teaching career many years ago without the encouragement and support from Dr. David Jackson and was honored to learn from such a gifted teacher, supportive boss and amazing person.
